Building the Future
One Inspiration
Our designs are inspired by a variety of sources, including art movements, architectural wonders, and the natural world. We believe that great design is a blend of creativity, innovation, and functionality, and we strive to create products that are both beautiful and practical. In this page, we’ll share some of the key influences behind our designs.
Integration with nature
Fallingwater
The design of the Pluk One is inspired by the famous Fallingwater house, designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Fallingwater is a perfect example of the integration of architecture with nature, as it is built over a waterfall and incorporates the natural surroundings into its design. The Pluk One similarly blends in with its environment, combining sleek and modern design with the warmth and natural beauty of wood.
The combination of natural materials and sleek lines is a hallmark of both designs. One of the most striking features of Fallingwater is the way the home appears to float above the waterfall it sits upon. This same sense of weightlessness is captured in the Pluk One table through its floating table top. The use of high-quality wood and clean, modern lines creates a minimalist design that is both timeless and functional. Whether used as a workspace or a dining table, the Pluk One table is a stunning piece of Dutch design that brings together the beauty of nature and the innovation of modern architecture.
Furthermore, the Pluk One’s sustainable materials and production methods align with Wright’s philosophy of “organic architecture,” which emphasizes the harmony between the built environment and the natural world. Wright believed that buildings should be in harmony with their surroundings, and the Pluk One follows this principle by using sustainably sourced wood and eco-friendly production methods.

De Stijl
Dutch Design
De Stijl was a movement in the Netherlands that embraced minimalism and geometric shapes, inspired by the natural world. The artists and designers involved in the movement believed that art and design should be simplified and pared down to their most basic elements, much like the natural world. They also believed that art and design should be accessible to everyone, and should be used to create a more harmonious and balanced society.
The influence of de Stijl can be seen throughout the Netherlands. From the colorful and geometric facades of traditional Dutch houses to the distinctive yellow and blue signage of the Dutch railway system, Dutch Design is all around. Some of the most famous examples of de Stijl architecture and de Stijl design are the Rietveld Schröder House in Utrecht and the iconic Red and Blue Chair, both designed by Gerrit Rietveld. The house features bold geometric shapes and primary colors, and is considered one of the most important examples of modernist architecture in the world. The chair is considered a masterpiece of the De Stijl art movement, featuring simple rectangular forms and the use of primary colors.
Everyday life
Blending culture and nature
The Netherlands is a country known for its unique blend of culture and nature. With more than a third of the country lying below sea level, the Dutch have had to become masters at controlling and manipulating their natural environment. This has led to an intricate relationship between the Dutch people and the landscape they inhabit.
The Dutch countryside is characterized by straight lines, geometric patterns, and a sense of order that reflects the country’s long history of land reclamation and water management. This highly engineered landscape is punctuated by windmills, canals, and dikes, which serve both functional and aesthetic purposes.
In addition to this, the Dutch are also known for their deep appreciation of nature and the environment. The country has a rich tradition of horticulture, and Dutch gardens are renowned for their carefully planned layouts and attention to detail. The Dutch also have a long history of environmental conservation, and the country has been at the forefront of efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable living.
The Netherlands’ unique relationship with nature and culture has shaped the country’s identity and influenced its design aesthetic, which is characterized by clean lines, minimalism, and functionality. This design approach has become an integral part of the Dutch identity, and is evident in everything from architecture and furniture to fashion and product design.
